Royal Air Maroc and Air Senegal inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Royal Air Maroc’s headquarters in Casablanca on September 28, 2023, marking the initiation of a strategic partnership between the two prominent African carriers.
This strategic alliance aims to strengthen cooperation between the two airlines, fostering economic, social, and cultural exchanges between Morocco and Senegal. The collaboration promises to benefit both companies in enhancing the travel experience for their passengers by offering a wider array of flight connections and schedule options.
At the core of this partnership is a “codeshare” agreement that will empower passengers to purchase tickets seamlessly from either airline’s sales network and enjoy the flexibility to travel on both Royal Air Maroc and Air Senegal’s fleets.
Beyond code-sharing, this collaborative effort extends to various domains, including aircraft maintenance, chartering, and handling services. Both airlines will leverage their synergies in terms of human capital development, technical and managerial training, and organizational improvements.
Furthermore, this partnership envisions joint actions in the realms of communication and the digitalization of services, paving the way for enhanced passenger experiences and operational efficiency.
Mr. Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, emphasized, “This partnership is perfectly in line with the excellent relations between our two countries, and we expressed, during numerous preparatory meetings, our firm desire to build a strategic and lasting partnership with Air Senegal.”
Mr. Alioune Badara Fall, General Director of Air Senegal, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Royal Air Maroc and Air SĂ©nĂ©gal are today realizing the desire of the highest authorities of our respective countries to develop this air bridge, both in terms of transporting passengers and cargo. This South-South agreement commits us to respecting international standards for the common good of our future Royal Air Maroc / Air SĂ©nĂ©gal passengers.”
Both airlines have committed multidisciplinary teams to drive the commercial and technical deployment of this partnership, ensuring that it progresses within the agreed timelines.
Royal Air Maroc’s CEO emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it aligns with the airline’s strategy to strengthen its position on the African continent. This partnership further solidifies the airline’s leadership role in Africa, a cornerstone of its global transcontinental expansion.
Air Senegal expressed their enthusiasm for this agreement, with the aim to increase connections and provide more options for passengers. The airline anticipates that this partnership will elevate the travel experience for passengers as well as support the broader aspirations of both nations to fortify their air bridge.
