Delta Air Lines announced on Monday that it is indefinitely suspending its New York JFK-Lagos flights effective Oct. 4.
Delta stated that the route suspension was to fit into “the current demand environment,” however, it continues to serve Lagos via Atlanta.
The statement read, “Delta is suspending its nonstop service between New York-JFK and Lagos to fit the current demand environment.
“The airline continues to operate service between Lagos and Atlanta and offers onward connections to New York and other cities across the United States.
“Customers impacted by our suspended New York-JFK to Lagos service will be re-accommodated on Delta-operated flights or services operated by our joint venture partners. Delta remains committed to the Nigeria market.”
This comes amid the ongoing currency repatriation restrictions on airlines plus Naira’s weakness for local point of sale which has already caused some airlines to reduce flights or pull out entirely.

While I currently agree with most of the Nigerian Government steps in trying to restabilize the power of the Naira currency, I also believe that most of these steps are hurting the economy and discouraging some investors. I really love your post. They are some contents on my website related to this.
