Astral Aviation has appointed Logistics provider Pilot Freight LLC (Pilot) as its cargo GSA for UAE to promote the Astral Online Schedule Network Ex DWC effective 15th October 2021, as announced by the airline’s Twitter handle. The cargo carrier currently operates flights between its hub in Nairobi and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) in Dubai, flying 2X-weekly utilizing its newest B767 F with a capacity of 40 Tons / 350 CBM. IAG Cargo has today announced a new direct cargo route from Madrid, Spain to Dakar the capital of Senegal, as the company responds to increasing demand for the transportation of goods to West Africa. The new service will strengthen IAG Cargo’s existing presence in West Africa, with the company now servicing over 25 weekly flights to the region in total, which already includes flights to Accra, Ghana as well as Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria from London-Heathrow. Etihad Cargo has signed a Service Legal Agreement (SLA) with Astral Aviation and Kenya Airways to provide reliable and cost-effective airfreight solutions across the continent. Operating a fleet of 14 freighters out of its Nairobi and Johannesburg hub, Astral Aviation services a network of 15 African destinations, which Etihad Cargo will leverage for increased vaccine distribution across Africa. As part of a donation by the Belgian Government to Uganda, on Wednesday, September 22, Brussels Airlines transported 153,000 Astra-Zeneca COVID-19 vaccines to Entebbe, using an Airbus A330-300 registered OO-SFE. The cargo was received by Rudi Veestraeten – Ambassador of Belgium to Uganda, Tom Vanneste – Resident Representative of ENABEL and Geert Lemmen – Country Manager Uganda for Brussels Airlines.
