Egyptian flag carrier EgyptAir has announced plans to launch direct flights to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh from Cairo beginning November 1 with a twice weekly service. The airline is expected to utilise its A330-300 aircraft for the six hour flight, bringing down the time taken by the existing flights by half. Earlier, various airlines operated Dhaka-Cairo flights with transits in Middle Eastern countries which took several hours. American carrier, United Airlines plans to establish new services from Washington Dulles Airport to Lagos, Nigeria beginning 29th November subject to government approval. The airline will operate three weekly flights connecting the U.S. capital to Nigeria’s largest city, which is also the top Western African destination for U.S-based travelers. EgyptAir will launch four weekly direct flights from Cairo to Tel Aviv this October for the first time since 1979. Since 1980s, flights between Cairo and Tel Aviv have been operated by Air Sinai, a subsidiary carrier of EgyptAir, in unmarked planes without the Egyptian flag. According to local media, flights have been scheduled to take off from Cairo International Airport and arrive at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport on 3, 4, 5, and 7 October. Although EgyptAir’s schedule confirms earlier Israeli news reports about the flights between the Egyptian and the Israeli capitals, no official confirmation has been announced by the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry. Low-cost carrier, Air Arabia will launch new services to Entebbe in Uganda with direct flights from Sharjah, UAE starting in October 10, 2021. Flights will operate 3X weekly using the Airbus A320 aircraft and will depart Sharjah on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 09:00am and land at 13:35pm while the return flight from Entebbe will depart at 14:15pm and arrive Sharjah International Airport at 21:00pm. Air Arabia has also introduced a free Covid-19 insurance coverage to add more convenience to flyers. The insurance is automatically included as part of the booking and no additional documents are required from passengers. This comes days after Uganda’s flag carrier Uganda airlines introduced its flight schedule to Dubai and will be served 3X weekly from October 4. RwandAir has confirmed the flight schedule for  planned new routes to the Republic of Congo. Rwanda’s flag carrier will launch new services to Lumbumbashi from September 29 while services to Goma will begin on October 15. Flights to both cities will begin operating twice weekly with the Lumbumbashi route utilizing the airline’s CRJ aircraft and Goma utilizing the De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft. Kenyan carrier JamboJet has officially inaugurated new operations between Nairobi and Goma in the DRC. This marks the first flight to the central Africa region for Kenya Airways budget carrier and will be maintained twice weekly. Furthermore, the carrier hopes to increase this services to 4X weekly subject to increasing demand, with the airline filing for De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400 as its equipment on this route.
