Nigeria’s Air Peace has taken delivery of its first factory-new Embraer E175, marking another milestone in the airline’s ongoing fleet modernisation strategy and strengthening its position as West and Central Africa’s largest carrier.

The aircraft, registered 5N-CGH, arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday evening following a ferry flight from Embraer’s production facility in Brazil, where it was formally handed over to an Air Peace delegation.

The delivery marks the first brand-new E175 to join the airline’s fleet and further deepens Air Peace’s relationship with the Brazilian manufacturer as it continues expanding its regional and domestic operations.

Designed for short and medium-haul routes, the E175 seats 88 passengers in an all 2-2 cabin configuration, eliminating middle seats while offering larger windows, increased overhead baggage space, ergonomic leather seating and enhanced cabin comfort.

The aircraft is expected to play a key role in supporting Air Peace’s growing network across Nigeria, West Africa and Central Africa, where thinner routes often require smaller, more efficient aircraft than traditional narrowbodies.

The delivery also reinforces Embraer’s growing presence in Africa’s regional aviation market at a time when the manufacturer is actively positioning its E-Jet family as a solution to the continent’s connectivity challenges. In its latest Connecting Africa report, Embraer identified dozens of underserved intra-African city pairs where passenger demand is insufficient for larger aircraft but well suited to regional jets.

Air Peace was the first airline in Africa to introduce the larger E195-E2 into commercial service, and the addition of the E175 further expands its Embraer fleet as the carrier continues investing in fuel-efficient aircraft tailored to regional operations.

The latest delivery comes as Air Peace pursues an ambitious expansion strategy, having recently grown its international footprint with services to destinations including London, while continuing to strengthen connectivity within West Africa.

For Embraer, the aircraft’s arrival also underscores increasing momentum in the African market, where airlines are placing greater emphasis on fleet right-sizing as they seek to improve route economics and expand connectivity across fragmented markets
