In a significant move that signals Air Algérie’s ongoing commitment to expanding its network and enhancing connectivity, the airline has revealed its intentions to launch two new routes: Algiers to Addis Ababa and Algiers to Douala. These additions to the airline’s route map come as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence within Africa and offer passengers increased travel options.
Algiers to Addis Ababa Route: A New Connection to Ethiopia
Air Algérie recently filed a preliminary schedule for the Algiers to Addis Ababa route, a connection that holds tremendous potential for both business and leisure travelers. While the route was initially scheduled for a launch on March 26, 2023, it was temporarily removed from the airline’s schedule in January 2023. However, recent updates indicate that Air Algérie tentatively plans to introduce this route with two weekly flights, starting from October 30, 2023. The flights will be operated using the reliable Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Currently, reservations for this route are not yet open, but the proposed schedule suggests that flights will depart Algiers at 19:00 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 03:30 (+1) on the following days: Thursday and Saturday. The return leg will take off from Addis Ababa at 05:00 and land in Algiers at 09:55, with departures on Wednesday and Sunday.
Algiers to Douala Route: Strengthening African Connectivity
Air Algérie is also set to establish a connection between Algiers and Douala, aiming to commence operations during the Northern winter 2023/24 season. The airline has filed an operational schedule for three weekly flights on this route, providing passengers with enhanced accessibility between Algeria and Cameroon. The planned flights will operate using Boeing 737-700 and -800 aircraft, further diversifying Air Algérie’s fleet for different operational needs.
As of now, reservations for the Algiers-Douala route are not yet available, but the proposed schedule suggests a flight schedule that caters to various travel preferences. Flights departing from Algiers are scheduled for 20:00 and will arrive in Douala at 01:05 on Thursdays. On Sundays, the same flight will take off from Algiers and land in Douala at the same time. The return flights will depart Douala at 02:05 and arrive in Algiers at 07:15 on Fridays, while on Mondays, the flight will depart from Douala at the same time and reach Algiers in the morning.
