Air Mauritius, the national carrier of Mauritius, has announced its order for three Airbus A350 aircraft to bolster its network expansion plans in Europe and South Asia. This order will bring Air Mauritius’ A350 fleet to a total of seven, further solidifying the airline’s commitment to modernizing its long-haul fleet.
With an existing fleet of four A350 and four A330 Airbus aircraft, Air Mauritius has a longstanding partnership with Airbus that spans three decades. The additional A350-900 aircraft will play a crucial role in strengthening the airline’s European network and driving growth in other markets.
“We are proud to renew our confidence in Airbus and its products, continuing our fruitful partnership,” stated Mr. Kresimir Kucko, CEO of Air Mauritius. “The additional A350-900 aircraft will help us enhance our European network and secure further growth in other markets. We are excited to work together with Airbus to achieve our ambitious objectives.”
Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International at Airbus, commended Air Mauritius for prioritizing the A350 as the centerpiece of its long-haul fleet modernization program. The A350 offers a range of advantages, including extended range capability, improved economics, increased passenger capacity, and enhanced comfort.
“The A350 is the perfect platform to connect the beautiful island of Mauritius to the world,” said Scherer. “With its superior range capability, advanced aerodynamics, and state-of-the-art technologies, the A350 stands out as the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft.”
As the long-range leader in the 300-410 seater category, the A350 boasts an impressive range of up to 9,700 nautical miles, making it ideal for Air Mauritius’ international operations. The aircraft’s clean sheet design incorporates cutting-edge technologies and aerodynamics, delivering unmatched levels of efficiency and passenger comfort. Additionally, its new generation engines and lightweight materials make it the most fuel-efficient large widebody aircraft on the market.
Passengers will also benefit from the A350’s exceptional noise reduction capabilities. The aircraft is the quietest in its class, with a 50 percent reduction in noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft, ensuring a more peaceful and enjoyable travel experience.
