Cabo Verde Airlines has announced the relaunch of its flights between Cape Verde and Paris after more than three years of absence. Starting from July 23, 2023, the airline will offer two flights per week between Praia-Nelson Mandela and Paris-CDG airport, operated by Boeing 737-700.

The flights will depart on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and arrive at 6:30 p.m. in Paris, with return flights leaving France on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. to land at 2:20 p.m. The airline will also connect two other airports to Paris from July 24, with flights from Roissy to Sao Vicente-Cesaria Evoria and Sal-Amicar Cabral.

Cabo Verde Airlines will compete with Azores Airlines in Praia, with Transavia France in Sal and without competition in Sao Vicente. The airline had been grounded due to the Covid-19 pandemic but announced the resumption of its operations in June 2021, initially between Sal and Lisbon. It now has a single 737-700 (D3-CCI) and is expecting a second aircraft, a 737 MAX 8, in July.

In the meantime, the airline is launching a public vote campaign to choose the name of its new Boeing 737-8. TACV, Cape Verde’s flag carrier, which was renationalized in July 2021, has also announced that it will lease a second aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, to be added to its only 737-700 in July.

The aircraft is already being painted, and no details have been provided on the configuration or the recruitment of sailors. TACV has transported 28,000 passengers since resuming operations and is reportedly in negotiation to rent a second plane to connect to Boston, Brazil, and France.

Cabo Verde Airlines and TACV had previously operated Boeing 757-200s, 737-800s, and ATR 72s. The resumption of flights is expected to strengthen the airline’s position in the market and improve the connectivity of the Cape Verde archipelago.
