The flight was crewed entirely by women, from the pilots and flight attendants to the ground crew and air traffic controllers. This marked the first time that an all-women crew had flown a commercial airline flight to Zanzibar. The flight was also supported by women in other areas, such as airport operations, flight dispatch, load control, ramp operation, on-board logistics, safety and security, and catering.

The all-women flight initiative has become an annual tradition for Ethiopian Airlines, highlighting the important role that women play in the aviation industry. The flight to Zanzibar also featured special touches to celebrate International Women’s Day, such as a special menu created by women chefs and in-flight entertainment showcasing films and documentaries highlighting women’s achievements.
