ACI World’s annual ASQ Awards 2022 have recognized airports in Africa for their exceptional customer service, cleanliness, and overall passenger experience. The awards are based on data collected from ASQ’s Departures and Arrivals Surveys, which capture passengers’ experience at all airport passenger contact points in close to 400 participating airports in 95 countries.
Moi International Airport in Mombasa, Kenya, won the coveted Best Airport by Size and Region – Under 2 Million Passengers per year in Africa Category for 2022. The award recognizes airports with the top 20% overall satisfaction score by size and region at departure. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, MIA continued to prioritize customer experience, demonstrating its commitment to providing passengers with a stress-free travel experience.
Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass, Senegal, and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius, both airports in the 2 to 5 million passengers per year category, were recognized for their exceptional customer service while Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco, which falls in the 5 to 15 million passengers per year category, won three awards, including the best Airport in its category, the airport with the Most Dedicated Staff, and the Easiest Airport Journey award in Africa.
Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass, Senegal, also won the Most Enjoyable Airport award in Africa for its offerings, including restaurants, shops, and entertainment, and its efforts to make the waiting time enjoyable and comfortable for passengers as well the Cleanest Airport in Africa.
The ACI-ASQ survey measures passengers’ satisfaction across 32 key performance indicators that include access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail, airport environment, and arrival services. The ASQ program provides the research tool and management information to better understand passengers’ views and what they want from an airport from the products and services standpoint.

ACI represents the best interests of airports during key phases of policy development and makes a significant contribution toward ensuring a global air transport system that is safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally sustainable.
