Krešimir Kučko the former head of Croatia Airlines and Gulf Air is the new head of the national airline of the African island republic Air Mauritius (MK).
Beginning Thursday Mr. Kučko has been commissioned to rehabilitate the ailing Air Mauritius following the departure of Somas Appavoo in March 2020. The airline is no doubt looking for a new direction to turn things around.
Mr Kučko will have to use his years of past experience in aviation to keep the airline on track. In his past experience, he headed Croatia Airlines from September 2012 to October 2017. He then served as the CEO of Gulf Air from November 2017 until January 2021, after which he became the advisor to the Gulf Air Board of Directors.
It is to be remembered that on August 18, Laurent Recoura was appointed, as the new commercial director of Air Mauritius. Laurent previously worked as the vice-president in charge of sales at OmanAir where he had pursued a policy of reducing distribution costs.
Established in 1967, Air Mauritius is based at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in the capital Port Louis. The airline is the leading scheduled carrier operating in the Indian Ocean, serving a network covering Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia.
The national airline has a fleet of nine aircraft, including four Airbus A350-900, two A330-900 and three ATR72-500 and expects two more aircraft to be added to fleet soon.
