Direct Maintenance, a certified line maintenance service provider and part of Magnetic MRO has recently expanded a deal to take full technical handling of China Southern Airlines’ fleet maintenance services in Nairobi, Kenya.

Announcing the recent expansion of their partnership agreement, Managing Director at Direct Maintenance, Jacco Klerk said it was the first time for a Chinese operator’s fleet to receive technical support and maintenance from an African based line.

This is the first time a Chinese aircraft has been fully handled by an authorised third-party line maintenance provider in Africa,” said Klerk.

Since 2015 Direct Maintenance has provided line maintenance technical support and related logistics services for A330 on the Changsha-Nairobi route for China Southern Airlines.

Direct Maintenance Customer Service Manager, Alfred Wang said for a long time, the line has been setting a good reputation of rendering standardised services.

He said Direct Maintenance is the only line maintenance provider holding an EASA Part-145 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Repair Station approval in Kenya and various other African countries, also was the first ever to support B787 line maintenance in Kenya.

Direct Maintenance has won a spontaneous recognition from China Southern’s team and their supervisors, by efficient and high-calibre line maintenance services, its rapid and independent emergency response mechanism, and customised exclusive service plans as well, which laid a solid foundation for the strengthened cooperation between China Southern Airlines and Direct Maintenance,“ said Wang.

Wang highlighted that Direct Mantainance offers tailor-made and dedicated line maintenance services through its devoted staff.

In 2021, Direct Maintenance has merged its Line Maintenance capabilities with Magnetic MRO Line Maintenance, and serving as one line maintenance provider, covers over 70 aircraft and engine combinations, including A320NEO, A350-900/1000, A380, B737 MAX, B747-8 and B787 in over 20 different locations in Europe and Africa.

In line with the requirements of the customers, aircraft line maintenance is provided to operators of a wide range of Airbus, Boeing and Embraer aircraft types.
