Nigeria’s new airline, Green Africa airways has finally received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) meaning it can start commercial flight operations after numerous delays
The carrier has earmarked August 12 as the new official launch date. Sales for Green Africa flights had to be postponed after it emerged that the new airline would not be able to make its June target for launch of flight operations
“This is a watershed moment in our journey to use the power of air travel to create a better future,” says the airline’s chief, Babawande Afolabi.
The head of the country’s regulatory authority, Musa Nuhu is optimistic about Green Africa’s role in Nigeria’s growing aviation sector
“We look forward to the positive contribution that the new airline will bring to the Nigerian aviation industry,” he said
Green Africa Airways currently operates a fleet of 3 ATR72-600 aircraft leased from ACIA aero with ambitions to expand the fleet to 15 ATRs
