Nigeria Air Gears Closer to Take-off

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), today presented the Air Transport License (ATL) to the interim management of Nigeria Air as the proposed national carrier gears closer to takeoff.

The carrier is to be a public-private partnership with the federal government maintaining a 5% stake, while 49% would be held by strategic equity partners and 46% by Nigerian entrepreneurs according to the aviation minister in his earlier sentiments.

For years now, Nigeria has been without a national carrier with its revival being pushed severally.

However, the question marks for the future are several

Network

Lagos, Murtala Muhammed will be the main focus city for the airline’s flights.

It will be interesting to see the routes being planned for the new carrier.

Fleet

According to the aviation  minister, the airline would start operations with three wet-leased aircraft, as it would take about three to five years to take delivery of an aircraft that was ordered.

The new airline now awaits its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), which empowers the airline to operate scheduled commercial flights.
