Air Algérie will expand its fleet with an order for 15 new aircraft after receiving the nod from the Algerian government.
According to Reuters, the Council of Ministers approved the order after a meeting on Sunday in which they stated;
“The Algerian cabinet has authorized the national airline, Air Algerie, to purchase 15 new aircraft to open new routes to African and Asian destinations,” Algerian State TV said on Sunday citing a cabinet statement.
The statement however did not specify the aircraft type to be purchased or when the deliveries could begin. But looking at it this would be an interesting expansion drive for the North African carrier as its previous expansion drive which began in 2006 was cut short indefinitely in 2020 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
