The Republic of Angola has placed a firm order for three Airbus C295 aircraft, becoming the 38th operator of the aircraft type worldwide.

While Airbus did not disclose the expected delivery date, the two C295s will be equipped for maritime surveillance and one for transport missions.

The aircraft configured for transport missions will be able to carry out tactical cargo and troop transport tasks, paratrooping, load dropping or humanitarian missions.

Angola’s two Airbus C295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) will conduct search and rescue missions, including the control of illegal fishing and borders, providing support in the event of a natural disaster, and intelligence-gathering missions.

All aircraft will feature Airbus-developed Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) and the latest version of the Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion avionics suite.

The Airbus C295 is a new-generation tactical airlifted in the light and medium segment. The C925 can be used for close-air support operations, air-to-air refueling, transport operations, and maritime patrol. It can also be converted into a water bomber to fight forest fires.

The C295 can also accommodate up to 71 passengers and has a maximum range of 4,500 kilometers.
