Ethiopian Airlines continues to make significant strides in reestablishing global connectivity and enhancing passenger experiences. In a double dose of positive news for aviation enthusiasts and travelers, Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline is set to not only resume its service to Madrid, Spain but also scale up its flights to Accra, Ghana.

Ethiopian Airlines Resumes Madrid Service

From December 9, 2023, Ethiopian Airlines will once again connect its passengers to the vibrant city of Madrid, Spain. After a temporary suspension of its Madrid flights in March 2020, the airline is ready to soar back into the Spanish market, which temporarily suspended due to unprecedented global circumstances.

The airline has meticulously planned its comeback to the Spanish capital, offering an Addis Ababa – Rome Fiumicino – Madrid route. Passengers will be thrilled to know that Ethiopian Airlines will be operating this route four times a week, using state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900XWB aircraft, known for their exceptional comfort and cutting-edge technology.

The schedule for this route has been carefully crafted to optimize travel convenience and connectivity. The flight ET712 will depart from Addis Ababa at 00:05 local time, arriving at Rome Fiumicino at 04:35 local time. After a brief stopover, the flight will continue to its final destination, Madrid, touching down at 08:10 local time. This flight schedule is operational on days excluding Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. For the return journey, flight ET713 will depart from Madrid at 19:25 local time, arriving at Rome Fiumicino at 22:00 local time. Following a stopover, the flight will then head back to Addis Ababa, with a scheduled arrival time of 07:30 the following day. This flight schedule is operational on days excluding Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

This development has a minor but noteworthy impact on Ethiopian Airlines’ service to Rome Fiumicino. The overall weekly service to Rome remains unchanged at seven flights. The extension to Madrid comes as a replacement for the existing ET712/713 terminator service.

Ethiopian Airlines Strengthens Accra Service

Adding to its remarkable achievements, Ethiopian Airlines is gearing up to bolster its service to Accra, Ghana. This marks the second expansion in 2023 for the Accra – Addis Ababa route. With a dynamic approach to serving its passengers, the airline will increase its weekly flights from eleven to an impressive fourteen. This enhancement will take effect during the upcoming IATA Winter Season, offering travelers even more opportunities to connect.

Earlier in March 2023, Ethiopian Airlines introduced four new flights to its daily direct service, resulting in eleven weekly flights between Accra and Addis Ababa. The upcoming expansion further enhances the schedule, offering a variety of flight options throughout the week. Travelers will now have the convenience of choosing from a mix of afternoon, early morning, and evening departures.

Flight Schedule Highlights

– Mondays: 3 flights, including an afternoon flight at 12:20 pm, an early morning departure at 5:20 am, and an evening departure at 8:00 pm.
