The eagerly anticipated return of Royal Air Maroc’s flights between Casablanca and Algiers faces another delay, with the airline now aiming to resume service on October 30, 2023. Initially slated for September 2, 2023, the resumption is still subject to reservation and remains contingent on potential further changes.
According to the latest information from the Global Distribution Systems (GDS) as reported by AeroRoutes, the Moroccan national airline plans to operate four weekly flights on this route using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The 737-800 can accommodate 12 passengers in Business Class and 147 in Economy Class.
The proposed flight schedule for the Casablanca-Algiers route is as follows:
– Departures from Casablanca: The flights are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 9:55 a.m., with an estimated arrival time in Algiers at 11:50 a.m.
– Departures from Algiers: The return flights will depart from Algiers at 1:05 p.m. and are expected to land in Casablanca at 3:05 p.m.
It’s important to note that reservations for these flights are not yet available, and passengers are advised to stay tuned for further updates from the airline.
The suspension of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Algeria, driven by the long-standing conflict over Western Sahara, has resulted in the absence of any air connectivity between the two countries for the past three years, leading to the closure of airspace. No other airline is present between the two cities, or between the two countries for that matter.
