Edelweiss, the leisure airline of the Lufthansa Group, has announced its plans to increase the number of flights to several sought-after holiday destinations in Africa for the upcoming winter season. The move aims to meet the growing demand from travelers seeking beach getaways, cultural explorations, and snowy adventures.
In Egypt, Edelweiss will significantly enhance its flight frequency. The carrier will operate daily flights to Hurghada during the winter of 2023/2024, and on weekends, it will even offer two flights per day. Luxor and Marsa Alam will also see a boost in connectivity, with two and three weekly flights respectively. Furthermore, the number of flights to Sharm El Sheikh will double, providing travelers with the convenience of four flights per week. In total, Edelweiss will operate a schedule of 23 weekly flights between Switzerland and Egypt, facilitating easy access for both Swiss travelers and international tourists.
Recognizing the popularity of Moroccan destinations, Edelweiss plans to introduce additional capacity to cater to the demand for the 2023/2024 winter season. Starting in February, the airline will launch a new service to Agadir, further expanding its presence in the country. Edelweiss will operate six flights per week to Marrakech, a vibrant city known for its rich history and cultural heritage. Additionally, travelers looking to explore Agadir, a popular coastal destination, will have the convenience of two weekly flights throughout the winter season.
The long distance programming for the 2023/2024 winter season will also include new vacation destinations in South Africa . The complete calendar for the coming winter includes 57 holiday destinations in 32 countries (short, medium and long distance).
