Malawi Airlines has announced exciting news for travelers between Malawi and Kenya. The airline will re-introduce flights between Lilongwe and Nairobi, starting from the 1st of April 2023. The announcement has come as a welcome relief to frequent fliers, businesses, and tourists who rely on air travel for their activities.
The flights will operate twice a week, with ET50 departing Lilongwe on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 16:45, arriving in Nairobi at 20:00. The return flight, ET51, will depart Nairobi on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 06:15, arriving in Lilongwe at 07:30. This schedule will provide convenient connections for passengers traveling beyond Nairobi to destinations in East Africa and the rest of the world.
Malawi Airlines is a joint venture between the Malawi government and Ethiopian Airlines, with the Malawi government owning 51% of the shares and Ethiopian Airlines owning 49%. The airline faced financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the shareholders recapitalizing the airline and allowing it to resume full operations in mid-June 2021.
Despite the challenges, Malawi Airlines has maintained a strong reputation for providing quality service to its passengers. The airline operates a modern fleet of aircraft and has experienced pilots and cabin crew.
The reintroduction of the Lilongwe-Nairobi route will further enhance the airline’s reputation and enable it to continue providing convenient and reliable air travel for its passengers.
