RwandAir Bombardier DHC-8-402 (Q400) 9XR-WM (msn 4498) operating a scheduled domestic flight WB 601 from Kigali Airport overran the runway on landing at Kamembe, Rwanda on October 22. The aircraft came to a stop in the grass and authorities said all people on board were safe.

The Saturday morning incident was confirmed by the airline in a statement which read, “RwandAir Flight WB601 to Kamembe this morning had a minor incident on landing. All passengers and crew are safe. We’ll experience some disruptions in our schedule today and apologize for any inconvenience.”

RwandAir and local aviation authorities have launched an investigation into this incident which may have been caused by an error by the flight crew, an aircraft malfunction, bad weather such as low visibility or wet ground affecting the plane’s brakes causing aquaplaning.
