Emirates and Airlink airlines have inaugurated their new codeshare partnership.
The agreement between the Emirati and South African companies was first announced 10 months ago when both companies first announced their intention to formalize it.
The option to issue tickets with shared itineraries through all sales channels is now available and will provide greater options to the clients of both companies.
This means, that Emirates passengers from Dubai can make domestic connections from the three South African gateways where the airline operates. That would be in total, eight destinations from Johannesburg (JNB), five from Cape Town (CPT), and one from Durban ( DUR) operated by Airlink are available.
Some of the main destinations available from the agreement are Bloemfontein, East London, George, Hoedspruit, Kimberley, and Port Elizabeth.
Travelers commencing their journey in South Africa, on the other hand, will have access to Emirates’ extensive offering from its Dubai base through a single itinerary booking.
Right now, the UAE carrier operates 2X daily to Johannesburg, 1X daily to Cape Town, and 5X weekly flights to and from Durban.
Through its partnership with South African Airways, its codeshare agreement with Airlink, and its interline agreements with Cemair and FlySafair, the UAE’s largest carrier had an expanded reach of 79 destinations across southern Africa.
