Under the #RedGoesGreen Kenya Airways (KQ), on Saturday took part in the sustainability challenge by SkyTeam aimed at raising awareness of environmental conservation.
Operated on May 14, KQ’s flight KQ116 serviced with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, sustainably connected Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport and Amsterdam-Schiphol airports, in line with what the other airlines in the alliance are doing to reduce the environmental impact of their business.
The challenge involves airlines operating their most sustainable flight ever in addition to extraordinary operating procedures involving different departments of the company committed to the project.
Likewise, passengers were also offered a sustainable catering service.
The Sustainable Flight Challenge, organized by the SkyTeam alliance, is a sort of friendly competition between sixteen participating airlines that will conduct flights applying their sustainability strategies between May 1 and 14.
The initiative seeks to explore, test, and share everything that can contribute to reducing the environmental impact of air operations and define best practices for the sustainable future of the sector.
