Astral Aviation Transports 59,520 Vaccines to South Sudan, Ramps up Network Services

Being part of the UNICEF Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative, Nairobi-based Astral Aviation continues with its commitment yet again coming forward to support the initiative by transporting 59,520 doses of Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Juba, South Sudan from Nairobi utilizing its DC9F aircraft.

The vaccines were first transported by Network Aviation Group’s Boeing 747F from the UNICEF Supply Division and World Health Organization to Nairobi for onward connection to Juba by Astral Aviation, and were received at the airport by senior Government officials led by Minister of Health, D/Ambassador of France.

In addition to prioritizing shipment of these life-saving supplies, effective 6 September, the airline will increase its services to Johannesburg from Nairobi to 3X weekly operated by its newest B767F (140 tons of weekly capacity).

Astral will also fly 2X weekly flights to Dubai using B767F (82 tons) with the airline introducing a new weekly flight to Hong Kong via Dubai. The airline will continue to operate its intra-Africa network as per the existing schedule and will be flexible to accommodate additional frequencies at short notice.
