The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has announced it has appointed renowned aviator Elijah Chingosho as its Director General effective 1st August 2021
Dr. Chingosho is a seasoned aviation professional who spent 16 years at the African Airlines Association, rising to become Secretary General from 2011 to 2017
He is also an accomplished academic, he graduated from Loughborough University, England with a Master of Engineering degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Design, University of South Africa with a Master of Commerce in Transport Economics, University of Zimbabwe with a Master of Business Administration and Warnborough College with a Doctorate in Business Administration
“Dr. Eng. Elijah Chingosho is an aviation leader with decades of experience in aircraft engineering, business turn-around, organizational business development, safety and security systems in aviation, aviation regulatory development and strategic management, and has led successful teams, in the private, government and non-profit sectors.” The chairman of the CAAZ board of directors, advocate Theopilus P. Gambe said
“Throughout his career in the aviation industry, he has established a strong record of success which has put Zimbabwe on the African and indeed global aviation map”
This experience gives him good stead at the CAAZ as he steers the transformation of the organization into a regional hub of world-class aviation services while achieving its objectives under the national development strategy
Dr. Eng. Chingosho is a retired group captain from the Airforce of Zimbabwe where he was its director of Engineering. He also spent 3 years at Air Zimbabwe as a general manager
Regarding his appointment, Dr. Chingosho said: “I am honoured to have been appointed to serve this important organization and to continue actively working to serve the aviation industry in Zimbabwe. With the support of the team at CAAZ, we will efficiently and professionally serve the fascinating aviation industry”
