Zimbabwe recently welcomed a new budget airline, Kuva Air, a new player hoping to bring convenience and efficiency to the country’s tourism sector.
Launched late last month, Kuva Air this week inaugurated flights to Kariba, a resort town In Northern Zimbabwe that has for years had no air connectivity, solving one of the town’s bottlenecks for growth and accessibility.
The airline also services the Harare – Bulawayo route as well as the Vic Falls route among its key destinations.
‘Blockchain-powered airline’
Despite the blockchain boom in recent years, it has hardly been used in the aviation industry.
Kuva, provider of digital wallet payment, cryptocurrency, and currency exchange services through the Kuvacash mobile app services together with the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), via their official Facebook and Twitter accounts, announced (22/24-Apr-2022) the launch of Kuva Air in Zimbabwe as ‘world’s first blockchain-powered airline’.
Kuva Air made a demonstration flight from Harare to Bulawayo on 22-Apr-2022.
The flight was operated by Executive Air with an Embraer EMB120 aircraft (ZS-AAF).
Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) stated Executive Air was “being tested on their readiness to operate scheduled commercial flights”.
