Etihad Airways is set to re-establish its flights to East Africa with the commencement of a daily service from Abu Dhabi to Nairobi. This renewed connection is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2024, marking a significant return to facilitating travel between these two prominent cities.
The non-stop route promises to link the vibrant hub of Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways’ base in the United Arab Emirates, to Nairobi, the thriving capital of Kenya. Travelers from Kenya will gain enhanced access to the Middle East, the United States, Europe, India, and Southeast Asia through the extensive network provided by Etihad Airways.
The operational plan features a daily service employing a two-class Airbus A320 (comprising Business and Economy cabins). The outbound flight, EY767, is scheduled to depart from Abu Dhabi at 9:05 a.m., reaching Nairobi at 1:15 p.m. In return, the EY768 flight will depart from the Kenyan capital at 6:10 p.m. to arrive back in Abu Dhabi at 12:20 a.m., offering convenience and reliability to passengers.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the revival of this route, stating, “We are delighted to resume flights to Nairobi, a vibrant and exciting city in its own right and also the gateway to a Kenyan safari, a dream adventure for many travelers, offering views of diverse and beautiful wildlife of Africa. Similarly, we will be delighted to welcome guests from Kenya to our extraordinary home and offer them access to our growing global network.”
The renewed connection between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi not only enhances travel opportunities but also stands to bolster cultural and economic ties between the UAE and the East African powerhouse. Nairobi, known for its dynamic cultural scene and status as a major center of modern African music, serves as a starting point for exploring Kenya’s legendary safari destinations, including the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve.
For East African travelers, this restored connection promises a gateway to exploring Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural heritage and experiencing its renowned hospitality. From the awe-inspiring Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to the cultural magnificence of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, visitors can relish the blend of modernity and tradition while savoring the warmth of Emirati hospitality.
Etihad Airways’ daily flights to Nairobi, featuring the Airbus A320, are set to offer travelers an opportunity to experience the airline’s acclaimed service across both Business and Economy cabins.
