Pratt & Whitney, a renowned aerospace manufacturer and an RTX business, made an exciting announcement at the Paris Air Show regarding the launch of its new subsidiary, Pratt & Whitney Maroc (PWM). The subsidiary will be based in Casablanca and will focus on the manufacturing of detailed static and structural machined parts for various engine models. This strategic move is expected to enhance Pratt & Whitney’s competitiveness and optimize its operations footprint and asset utilization.

Construction of the facility is set to commence in the fourth quarter of this year, with the aim of becoming operational by 2025. The launch of this subsidiary is projected to create up to 200 jobs by 2030, offering promising employment opportunities in the aerospace sector.

Pratt & Whitney’s decision to invest in Morocco stems from a comprehensive global benchmarking exercise, which highlighted the country’s growing hub of aerospace companies, favorable business costs, and the presence of a skilled and readily available talent pool. Maria Della Posta, the President of Pratt & Whitney Canada, emphasized the advantages of Morocco’s aerospace community in Casablanca, citing its valuable talent resources, positive economic environment, and strong governmental support.

“Morocco was selected after a global benchmarking exercise due to its growing hub of aerospace companies, cost of business and trained, available talent”, Pratt & Whitney explained.

“Morocco offers many benefits for aerospace manufacturing”, said Maria Della Posta, President of Pratt & Whitney Canada. “The growing aerospace community in Casablanca ensures a highly valuable talent pool, a positive economic environment and the support from Morocco’s government”, she added.

The Moroccan Ministry of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies expressed its endorsement of Pratt & Whitney’s investment in the country. Recognizing the significance of this initiative, the ministry representative stated that the move would strengthen Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem by fostering innovation, research, and the development of new technologies. Additionally, the investment is expected to generate employment opportunities for the country’s talented youth, facilitate knowledge transfer, and promote collaboration between local and international stakeholders.

“Pratt & Whitney’s investment in Morocco will strengthen our aerospace ecosystem by fostering innovation, research, and the development of new technologies”, assured the representative of the Moroccan Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies. “It will create job opportunities for our talented youth, foster knowledge transfer, and promote collaboration between local and international stakeholders”, he added.

The future Casablanca facility will cover an impressive area of 130,000 square feet and will be constructed with state-of-the-art efficiency principles, ensuring top-quality production while optimizing costs. This expansion will allow Pratt & Whitney to strengthen its presence in the region and reinforce its relationships with customers and partners.

In recent months, the company has faced challenges in meeting overhaul and repair schedules for certain products, primarily due to disruptions in the global supply chain. By establishing a manufacturing facility in Morocco, Pratt & Whitney aims to address these setbacks and improve its operational processes.
