Kenya Airways is adapting to the changing market conditions by canceling its flights to Thailand from mid-February 2023.
The airline has listed its Nairobi to Bangkok flight until February 13, 2023 as observed by Aeroroutes.
The Skyteam member had been operating two weekly flights using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. However, reservations for the route are no longer available, and schedules on or after March 26, 2023 are subject to adjustment in the coming weeks.
In light of this development, Kenya Airways has decided to redirect its focus to its Nairobi to Guangzhou route by offering a nonstop flight, instead of the current Nairobi – Bangkok – Guangzhou service.
The airline will begin operating nonstop flights between the two cities from February 18, 2023. Initially, the carrier will maintain the frequency of two weekly flights, but this will increase to three from February 27, 2023. The operational schedule has been tentatively listed until March 25, 2023.
The decision to cancel flights to Thailand and increase focus on the Nairobi to Guangzhou route could be due to a number of reasons, including low demand or unprofitability. Nevertheless, passengers will now have a more direct and convenient option for traveling between Kenya and China.
The airline’s operational schedule is subject to change, but for now, passengers can look forward to nonstop flights between Nairobi and Guangzhou.
