Ethiopian Airlines has improved in the latest global standings according to Skytrax to 26th place, an incredible 11 ranks up, even as Asian airlines continue to dominate the PNC world rankings, as usual.
The latest Skytrax World Airlines Awards unveiled last week, shows that while Ethiopia has made further progress in the general classification, the “Cabin crew” category which is particularly relevant for passengers, also saw RwandAir scooping the best in Africa in this category. The Kigali-based carrier was also the best Airline in “Best Airline Staff in Africa” for the second time in a row and “Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in Africa.”
Skytrax only specifies the 20 best in this world ranking of cabin crew, but by region, Finnair obtains the best score in northern Europe, while Iberia took the best in southern Europe. Delta Air Lines and LATAM were ranked the best in North America and South America respectively.
Ethiopian Airlines retained its title of the “Best Airline in Africa” for a fifth consecutive year. The carrier was also voted as the continent’s best business class and economy class airline for the fourth year in a row while also picking up the top spot for “Best Business Class Onboard Catering in Africa”.
“We are truly honored by the multiple prestigious awards that Ethiopian won today,” said Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew in a statement last Friday.
“It gives me great pleasure to witness such a rewarding event to the hard work Ethiopian Airlines employees and management team put to provide our valued passengers the best quality service.”
