Somalia Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) awarded the first Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in 30 years to Freedom Air marking a major milestone in the country’s aviation industry.
The event was attended by senior officials including the country’s Prime Minister, Mohamed Roble who lauded the SCAA for its efforts in upgrading the civil aviation sector in the country in recent years while calling on commercial airlines to obtain the licenses to enable them to meet local and international aviation standards.
In its efforts to revive the aviation sector in Somalia, SCAA previously in August launched the construction of the Aircraft Maintenance Facility in Mogadishu to allow servicing and maintenance of aircraft in the country.
