The Stage is Set for the Next Generation of African Air Traffic Controllers

As we celebrate the international day of the Air Traffic Controller, today 20th October, We reflect on the most recent episode of the African Aviators Webinar Series powered by Embraer

This series represents a long-term commitment from all involved and is an initiative of the African Aviation Group(on facebook), AviaDev and Airspace Africa with the support of Embraer

Episode 2 brought together some of Africa’s best and seasoned Air Traffic Controllers in Abdullahi Hersi from Somalia and Kate Nnanna-Ibemgbo from Nigeria as well as aspiring ATC Bupe Peleo Chama from Zambia who won a competition to join the panel

In addition to a stimulating discussion on Air Traffic Controllers, their role and career path, this webinar  hosted a  live aviation quiz with prizes provided by the event Sponsor, Embraer. The winner of the quiz turned out to be a familiar face in Nuga Pavali the aspiring pilot who joined the panel for episode 1

  • The demand for qualified personnel
  • On the job experiences
  • Practical steps in pursuing the career
  • The role of government in education
  • Areas of specialization within the field
  • Why more people should take this route
