Nigeria Eagle a new airline rising from the ashes of the troubled carrier Arik Air, is now in the final phase of acquiring an AOC which will give a green light to launch of commercial operations
After years of mismanagement and debts, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), a special purpose vehicle of the Federal Government for the recovery of debts, took over Arik Air in February 2017. A decision was made down the line to salvage Arik Air assets towards the creation of a fresh new airline, NG Eagle
NG Eagle has now acquired 3 former Arik Boeing 737 aircraft and rebranded to its livery with the latest aircraft currently still undergoing checks and changes in Ethiopia. The 3rd aircraft is expected to complete the AOC requirements and accelerate the launch of the start-up
Unions within Nigeria have called for the denial of AOC to NG Eagle before legacy debt issues from Arik Air are sorted
