Airlines are eager to capture a rebound in travel and are right now, busy weighing how much capacity to deploy and on which route even as demand gradually increases and more people are getting vaccinated against Covid-19.
Seemingly, executives have also began briefing investors on their strategies with TAAG – Linhas Aéreas de Angola – Angola airlines – already presenting a new commercial plan for international flights in three phases, effective September 21 this year, to nine destinations, between Africa, America and Europe.
Part of the airline’s gradual resumption of its international capacity, the first phase which began on Tuesday 21st September saw the Luanda-based airline award seats to five African destinations including Johannesburg (Tuesday), Lagos (Monday), São Tomé (Saturday) and Cape Town (Sunday) with Mozambique capital Maputo expected to depart on 30th.
It’s intercontinental service to Lisbon, Portugal will be increase to 3xweekly with the reinforced flight beginning 24th September.
For the second phase which starts on October 5th, TAAG-Angola Airline’s flights to Johannesburg and Lagos will be reinforced to 2X-weekly. Additionally, they will be operated on Thursdays and Fridays respectively. TAAG will also maintain two services to the city of São Paulo (Brazil) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In the third and final phase, starting on the October 11th, Maputo will have two frequencies on Monday and Thursday, and the Namibian capital, Windhoek, will also have two frequencies also on Monday and Thursday.
Cape Town will have two frequencies, on Tuesday and Sunday, and Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo will also have two frequencies, on Sunday and Thursday.
